TRIO Garners National Championship Honors
International Brangus Show; Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Cattle and genetics produced by TRIO were recognized with honors and admiration during the 2011 International Brangus Show in Houston. We were excited to meet and visit with Brangus breeders from Argentina, Paraguay, Australia, South Africa, Mexico and the United States.

TRIO’s Wildfire 175W continued her winning ways by claiming Grand Champion female for the second year in row. She is a daughter of TRIO’s Sequoia 112S and Fancy 175/4, both previous Houston Grand Champions. Wildfire was honored by Judge Christy Collins with her seventh Grand Champion title. Wildfire is owned Rancho la Victoria, Victor de Leon and Sandra Manzur, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She is bred to MBJ Wiseguy 269W.

MBJ Wiseguy, a son of the 2007 Houston Grand Champion Lazy 3 Statesman 100S, was named Reserve Grand Champion Bull. Produced by MBJ Ranch, he was admired for his moderate frame size, expression of muscle and striking phenotype. He is owned with Rancho la Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico and MBJ Ranch of Wharton, Texas.

Other notable winners in the TRIO line up were Broken A Angelina 114W, Senior Champion Female and TRIO’s Xandra 1114X. Broken A Angelina 11W, a daughter of Broken A Redstone 423R, returned to the winner’s backdrop again having been name the 2010 Reserve Junior Calf Champion (behind Wildfire). She is owned by Austin Acord of Madisonville and bred to MBJ Wiseguy 269W. TRIO’s Xandra 1114X, a Class Winner in the heifer calf division, is a super stout daughter of Tanque 23T and Cassie 1114X that turned many heads during the week. She is owned with Indian Hills Ranch, Buck and Sydney Thomason, Cranfills Gap, Texas.

Congratulations and thank you to all of our partners - Victor de Leon & Sandra Manzur, Marcos & Adriana Borges, Buck and Sydney Thomason, Senora Marlene Coronel and Fabian Ballandrano!

The 2011 Global Collection Sale proved as elegant and exciting as the previous year. A package of nine embryos out of Brinks Cassie 1114S and three breed leading sires – Tanque 23T, Sureway’s Talent 090/N and SR Celebration 87R - was selected by Garrett Thomas of Sheppard, Texas as the foundation for his Red Brangus program.

The TRIO partners want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the TRIO Team who worked tirelessly to bring about the successes of the week and year: Jessica Maxwell, Darrell Hammonds, Amanda Gray, Derek Johnston, Annie Viator, Denny Douglass, Jim Ed Garren and Josh Martin.

In addition, thanks go to the gang from Wyman Creek from California. Thank you for your friendship and commitment to the Brangus breed. The week ended at the 2011 IBBA Global Roundup, were Tanque 23T was displayed. Cattlemen that have seen him the last several years are impressed with how he has matured into a massive senior herdsire that possesses every quality and dimension a breeder requires.

Breeders that saw him for the first time were awestruck by his power and balance. We look forward to many more Tanque calves this year. Tanque is owned with Rancho los Nogales, Ciudad Victoria, Mexico; and OB Ranch, Wharton, Texas.

While the week capped off an exciting show year, it ignited a level of excitement for the Red Brangus breed and demand for TRIO genetics that will make 2011 the best yet.
